ASC Labs – September Coffee Morning – Improve your Digital Safety & Experience

This September, ASC hosted another successful Lab session, bringing together a small but engaged group of participants to dive into a timely and practical topic: improving digital safety, privacy, and the online experience.

Led by Cameron McAnsh of Purify Intelligence & Technology Solutions Network, the workshop highlighted just how much control we really have over the way we use technology. From laptops and smartphones to browsers and apps, participants explored straightforward steps anyone can take to reduce digital clutter, limit tracking, and enhance everyday security.

Practical Insights with Real Impact
The session was filled with actionable ideas that attendees could put into practice immediately. Highlights included:

  • Tweaking settings on Windows, Mac, and mobile devices to reduce advertising and background tracking.
  • Making smarter choices about browsers and search engines.
  • Using password managers and two-factor authentication to simplify logins and keep accounts safer.
  • Considering VPNs and other tools to stay secure on the go.

Attendees also got a glimpse of creative alternatives to “business as usual” technology, including privacy-first apps, cloud services, and even open-source projects that put more control back in the hands of users.

Positive Feedback All Around
While the group was intentionally kept small to encourage discussion, the feedback was outstanding. Participants valued the balance between expert insights and simple, practical takeaways they could start using right away. Many remarked on how approachable the content felt—even when covering complex topics.

Why It Matters
Technology is changing rapidly, and with it comes new challenges and opportunities. ASC Labs provide a space to explore these shifts in a hands-on, community-driven environment. This session was a perfect example of how our members can come together to learn, share, and walk away with tools that make an immediate difference.
