Announcing Emeritus Membership: On the Shoulders of Giants

Generosity of time is the fuel that keeps ASC going, and it always has been that way. This year, ASC is introducing Emeritus Membership, a new level of membership to honour the individuals who worked tirelessly over many years to build ASC and provide the legacy we enjoy today.  

In the past, ASC had occasionally awarded Honorary Life Membership to individuals who had made an outstanding contribution either to ASC or to the industry more generally, though this programme had not been active for some years.  

We have now decided to revive the idea of a roll of honour for lifetime achievement with two distinct programmes:  

  • Emeritus Membership, for the people who have made a significant difference to ASC over the years, generously giving their time and thought to the benefit of our professional community as a whole. 
  • ASC Hall of Fame, a separate programme designed to honour those making a wider contribution to the industry. You can look forward to a separate announcement on the first group of Hall of Fame inductees at the ASC conference on the 21st May.  

Emeritus Membership is awarded for life, and is an honour given to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution over many years to ASC and who are no longer involved on a day-to-day basis.  

We have great pleasure in announcing that five people have accepted our invitation to become Emeritus Members of ASC – each one of them a legend as far as ASC is concerned!

  • David Birks  
  • Raz Khan  
  • Pat Molloy  
  • Andrew Westlake  

We have also incorporated all those previously awarded Honorary Life Member into the Emeritus Membership programme and consider it only right to continue acknowledge their contribution to ASC too.  

ASC continues to rely on the work of volunteers, and our future depends on attracting the help of new people.
