Membership of ASC is open to everyone with a connection to the technology of surveys, market research and insight, or closely related fields such as social research, official statistics or behavioural data science.
As a member of ASC, you will benefit from reduced entry to most of our events, priority booking at our popular social events and being kept updated about all of ASC’s activities. Members can participate in the work of the ASC too, for example, by joining an event planning team, or helping with some of our activities.
ASC members play an important role in the democratic governance of the association, a community interest company limited by guarantee and wholly owned by its members.
Members are able to participate in the ASC’s Annual General Meeting, where they can vote on any measures proposed.
Applying to become a member
There is currently no fee to join or renew your membership of ASC. We have already set the annual subscription for 2024 at zero, so there will be no fee to pay next year either.
ASC Membership follows the calendar year, with membership running from 1st January to 31st December. Enrolment for each year closes on the 1st March.
Initially when you join we will enrol you as a provisional member of the ASC, which will be valid until the 31st December. As a provisional member you will still enjoy all the benefits of membership of the association, apart being able to participate in the AGM.
At the end of your first year, we will automatically put you forward to the Executive committee to be admitted to the Association as a full member. Full members are entitled to vote in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and play a part in the governance of the ASC or other matters relating to ASC governance. Your membership will be upgraded automatically, unless you tell us you no longer wish to be a member.
Renewing your membership
If you are already a member, there is nothing more you need to do until the end of the year. You will receive an email from us towards the end of the year, inviting you to renew for next year. Even better, the annual subscription for 2024 has been reduced to zero.
If we have not received your renewal by the end of February then your membership will lapse. If, by any chance you did not get a renewal invitation by the end of the year, simply contact the administrator and we will sort it out.
Discounts
ASC Members benefit from exclusive advance booking and discounts of up to 20% on ticket prices for conferences. We will send you a discount code you can use to obtain any special offers for the year immediately on sign-up and we will send you one for next year when you renew your membership.
Discounts do not normally apply to conference extras such as overnight accommodation. Check the information provided on each event for information about which items the ASC Member’s discount applies to.
Affiliated organisations
ASC has offered discounts to affiliated organisations on occasions in the past. At present, discounts are only available to ASC members – although as we’ve already pointed out, it is now free to join the ASC.
We retain close working relationships with several sister organisations, and are happy to share information on relevant events or activities to our members and on our website.
